Filémon Brault-Archambeault (b. 1999) is a queer feminist artist from Tiothia:ke/Montreal whose practice offers a politicized gaze on gender, sex and intimacy. After studying classical music at Cégep de Saint-Laurent, they turn to Concordia University to complete their BFA in cinema and sexuality studies. This journey is echoed in their practice, which combines sound art and image-making – moving or still. Their process also involves writing, often inspired by archival or anthropological research. Their film Les corps aqueux (Aqueous bodies, 2023) is distributed by Videographe and has screened at festivals worldwide, notably Images and FIFA.
They also have professional experience in postproduction – particularly as an editor, sound designer and mixer. Recently, they worked as an assistant-editor on Just Above the Surface of the Earth (2024), Marianna Milhorat’s first feature documentary.
Simultaneously, they work as a curator, writer and editor, driven by a desire to insert the work of lesser known artists into current discourse. This is what incites them to found À Flots in 2023, an interdisciplinary magazine dedicated to emerging artists. In 2025, they organize and host Memories of Dreamed Places, an artist panel taking place at Livart as part of the 25th edition of Art Matters festival. Shortly after, they are invited to give a talk at Princeton University as a member of the soft resistance collective. Their texts have been published by À Flots magazine, the Concordia Undergraduate Journal of Art History (CUJAH) and by Oz Journal.

Après une formation en musique classique au Cégep de Saint-Laurent, iel se tourne vers l’Université Concordia pour compléter un baccalauréat en cinéma et en études de la sexualité. Ce parcours se reflète dans sa pratique, qui allie le travail du son à celui de l’image – en mouvement ou pas. À ce processus s’ajoute l’écriture, souvent inspirée par une recherche d’archives ou anthropologique. Son film Les corps aqueux (2023) est distribué par Vidéographe et a été projeté internationalement, notamment aux festivals Images et FIFA.
Iel possède aussi une expérience professionnelle en postproduction – particulièrement en montage, design sonore et mixage. Récemment, iel a travaillé comme assistante-monteuse sur Just Above the Surface of the Earth (2024), premier long-métrage documentaire de la réalisatrice Marianna Milhorat.
En parallèle, iel travaille dans le domaine du commissariat et de l’édition, animée par le désir d’insérer les oeuvres d’artistes peu connu-es dans un discours actuel. C’est ce qui l’incite en 2023 à fonder À Flots, un magazine interdisciplinaire dédié aux artistes émergent-es. En 2025, iel organise et anime Memories of Dreamed Places, un panel d’artistes ayant eu lieu Livart dans le cadre de la 25e édition du festival Art Matters.
